My dream

I have a dream. That dream is a vision that spurs most of my research work.

In that dream, companies sell products to end users that do not come with the full spectrum of software contents. Instead, they provide a platform that allows users customize the product to fit into all imaginable situations. From GPS to T.V. to automobiles and even rice cookers, products can be reconfigured by users. Users expect this freedom; in that dream, reconfiguring electronic products is part of daily life. Many users belong to virtual organizations that negotiate with product companies terms of use and also co-ordinate with commercial developers extent of user participation. The Internet now accommodates millions of such user-driven virtual organizations that truly changed the meaning of economic production.

Is this dream going to happen? I am going to find out.
